For them weird to think of a Mexican or Peruvian or Guatemalan as "native american" since the U.S. has already had the ideas that native americans are only an iota of the world population they cannot comprehend now that there exist millions of them around the world. Also, the U.S. government has managed to separate the indigenous Mexicans and South Americans from their U.S. native americans by implementing the label. Now those words have forever created a barrier between those two groups. Neither fully recognizing that they are the same just on different borders. There is no genetic difference. They are one race. It is ridiculous to call an indigenous person from Mexico "latino" when he has nothing of latin in him! Latino refers to Italy, the of the Latin language.
